While the history of Montille dates back to the 1730’s it is the new generation under the careful stewardship of Etienne Hubert that has ushered in organic and biodynamic practices and a new purity to the prowess of the estate’s bottlings. “Les Sizies” is 100% Pinot Noir from a four acre plot on clay soils. Partial whole-cluster fermentation and aged 16 months in 20% new oak, this is elegant and approachable Burgundy with a medium bodied palate of violet and rose petal with black cherry, wild strawberry, and blackberry fruit notes. The oak is well integrated and the savory Pinot charm comes through on the long chalky finish. We love Les Sizies because despite its potential to age for over a decade it is always pleasant in its youth.
