Giuseppe Rinaldi is one of the most famed and heralded estates in all of Barolo. It’s no wonder the wines are wildly allocated and command such steep prices. Beppe passed away in 2018 but the estate is now helmed by his daughters Marta and Carlotta, who carry the torch with the same uncompromising standards and winemaking traditions. The wines are farmed organically and fermented with indigenous yeast. 2022 was a hot, drought vintage so meticulous care was required in the vineyard to avoid over ripeness. The Rinaldi’s achieved harmonious wines with deft balance despite the “new world” challenges. Luckily for us, while 2022 will age gracefully for a decade or more it offers earlier approachability and can be enjoyed without the painstaking challenge of keeping your hands off your bottles. These wines offer incredible grace and charm with fresh mint and balsamic on the nose along with ripe blood orange, black cherries, plum, summer berries, wet leaves, wildflowers, herbal tea, and a streak of citrus.
