Dow's Vintage Port 2017
Dow's Vintage Port 2017
Following the incredibly exciting 2016 release, this 2017 Port reflects the renowned pedigree that has given Dow’s its legendary status in the world of wine. Comprised of mostly Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, this wine is incredibly complex, full-bodied, and aromatic. Although quite different than the 2016 vintage, many are already classifying it among the most legendary of Dow’s Port. The nose is intoxicating with blueberry cobbler, mocha, salted licorice, and tar notes swirling around the glass. On the palate, chocolate shavings, espresso bean, and blueberry puree provide balance, purity and depth. This wine is powerful and muscular, yet somehow manages a great deal of grace. While definitely entering the “Hall of Fame” of Dow’s, this delightful vintage could use 3-5 more years in the cellar to refine an even more exquisite finish and can be enjoyed through 2060 and beyond. A legendary fortified wine.
