Chateau Ormes de Pez 2000

Chateau Ormes de Pez 2000

57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petite Verdot

Ormes de Pez has a storied history of winemaking in Bordeaux dating back to the 16th century. Today the 40 hectare vineyard is made up of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot. An increase in Merlot plantings has added a softness and a richness to their blends. The terroir is divided amongst gravel, clay, and sand with an average vine age of 30 years. Wines are aged in French oak for 15 months (usage of new oak jumped from 10 to 50% in 2000). Medium bodied with excellent definition. Black currant, tobacco, incense, licorice. Lush. Coffee, graphite, tar.  With a nice dark ruby color, wet earth, blackberry and wood scents lead to ripe, juicy, black and red berries, spice and cassis. As this bottle continues to develop it is destined to become one of the top vintages of Les Ormes de Pez
