A seriously age-worthy Bordeaux that is also very solid for early enjoyment – this represents a very approachable vintage for Talbot. A very refined, elegant nose delights with subtle notes of graphite, spiced blackcurrant, cocoa, plum and licorice. Extremely round on the palate, accessible and fruit-forward with black fruit, minerality and robust tannin. Medium bodied, well-balanced and racy with freshness and supple texture.

The 107 hectares of the Château Talbot vineyard surround the estate house and stretch north, all the way to the border with the Pauillac appellation. Planted on a terroir of fine Günzian gravel on a core of fossil-rich limestone, which form draining hilltops, one encounters a large majority of red vines (102 hectares) and a small acreage of whites (5 hectares). A champion of longevity, even when young Talbot is pleasant and rounded, ever distinguished by silky, mild and very civilized tannins. Talbot possesses an extraverted nature. It’s never withdrawn into itself, and has the courtesy of being in a good mood every day. It’s a racy wine, with complex marks of Havana and licorice, classically delicious without ever the slightest hint of austerity.
